THE FIT MT: FOODS FOR GUT HEALTH
In my 23 years in the field, I have acquired expertise in a broad range of modalities and techniques. In 2007, I was selected for the Massage Therapist Hall of Fame for Luxury Spa Finder's magazine. I have been mentioned in various magazine articles for my skill and techniques. I have worked in Five Star luxury spas as well as clinical settings under medical doctors, physical therapists and under an occupational therapist in a Lymphedema clinic.
Each body holds the key to its own healing. I provide the treatments, resources, and tools necessary to unlock the innate potential each of us holds inside. Working to create a safe and compassionate environment for you to discover what will help you lead a healthier and more relaxed life.
Colonics are also called colon hydrotherapy (hydrocolonics), colonic irrigation or high enemas, and are used to cleanse the colon. A colon flush pulls out built-up toxins and it helps to detox your body to promote weight loss and better health.
Swedish massage involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. The benefits of Swedish massage include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation, decreased stress and muscle tension, and improved range of motion.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage incorporates slow strokes to access deeper layers of muscle tissue and fascia. Deep tissue massage can be used to treat musculoskeletal issues such as strains and sports injuries. It can help to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue.
AKA: Lazy Man’s Yoga
This wonderful massage technique is done on a mat on the floor with the client dressed in yoga/workout clothing. A slow, rhythmic compression or palming technique is applied to sen lines, followed by placing the client in various yoga-like positions.
Shiatsu is a manipulative therapy developed in Japan and incorporating techniques of anma (Japanese traditional massage), acupressure, stretching, and Western massage. Shiatsu involves applying pressure to special points or areas on the body in order to maintain physical and mental well being, treat disease, or alleviate discomfort. All types of acupressure generally focus on the same pressure points and so-called energy pathways, but may differ in terms of massage technique.
Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage
This is a gentle, non-invasive manual technique that has a powerful effect on the body. Research in Australia, Europe and North America has proven its efficacy as a stand-alone treatment and in combination with other therapies. The skin is stretched and torqued in a specific manner, based on scientific, physiological principles that have proven to encourage lymph flow. If performed correctly with the correct pressure, direction and speed, this can greatly enhance recovery and facilitate drainage. It also has profound effects on systems in the body.
Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.
